Superfood Raw Cacao Truffles

These decadent little bites are super easy to whip up and are great to keep around pre-workout or even for breakfast to kick start your day. Maca helps add a slightly sweet, slightly salty taste to these truffles and happens to be an amazing superfood for you!  This root, related to the turnip or radish grows in high elevation only in Peru. Maca contains over 60 phytonutrients, complex carbohydrates, vitamins B1, B2, B12, C, E, and a range of other minerals.

Maca is also known as an adaptogen, which means when you intake maca your body will help adapt to stressful situations that it might be going through and brings it back to a balanced state. Among its benefits include helping balance the endocrine system, adrenals, thyroid, hormones and enhancing mood, energy and fertility. Be aware that maca is a natural energy booster so try not to eat these before trying to sleep :) 

Superfood Raw Cacao Truffles
(Yields 14 truffles)

-2 cups raw cashews
-3/4 cup water
-3/4 cup raw cacao
-1/2 cup raw shelled hemp seeds
-1/4 cup raw honey
-1/4 cup melted coconut oil (option to used LEVO infused coconut oil) 
-7 tsp maca
-4 tsp chlorella (optional)
-1 tsp Himalayan sea salt

1.  Place all ingredients into a food processor or blender.
2. Roll into 14 ‘golf ball’ size truffles.
3. *Optional- Roll in loose cacao powder. 
4. Refrigerate and keep in a sealed container for up to 2 weeks
